I don't think that 2 parties are enough. 2 parties prevents moderates from getting a chance at the white house the candidates for the current parties already get an automatic 20 percent of the vote from the hardcore party members who don't care about the issues just getting their party in office. The candidates then use extreme views to draw in the religious zealots and extremist people to vote for them. Moderists who need the moderate parts of both parties to vote for them in order to win cannot even get past the primarys because they have to run in a single party and cannot gain all of their potential votes. The theory that with more then 2 parties nothing would get through to becoming a law is flawed because a bill only has two sides so a if 2 parties are opposed on an issue than the third must split to decide on a bill making it entirely possible to get over half of the vote.
