Emphasis shouldn't be placed on the voting per se, but educating and informing oneself to vote. What happens is that semi-informed people feel the need to vote, and end up voting out of their own interests, which is not in the interests of democracy. We don't need more votes per se, we need more informed votes. In fact, the fewer uninformed/semi-informed votes we have, the better. Unfortunately, the large majority of this nation isn't truly informed. Which is why we need an education reform that incorporates to a large extent, information on governmental policy. Allow kids and adult citizens tons of more opportunities to inform themselves, and restore democracy.
