"It Would Be the End of His Business ...
He Would Be Denounced as an Anti-American and Demonized as a Terrorist Sympathizer"
Well, initially, there aren't that many people who have come out and publicly supported the official story.
In fact, most scientists, engineers and architects have not made any public statement about 9/11 one way or the other.
Moreover, virtually all of those who have supported the official explanation are - directly or indirectly - receiving funding from the government.
See this and this.
They get grants, accolades and appointments for parroting the official story.
McCain to AIPAC: I'm committed to making certain Israel maintains military edge
"When we join in saying never again, that is not a wish, a request or a plea to the enemies of Israel, but a promise that the United States and Israel will honor against any enemy,' Arizona senator tells pro-Israel lobby. Adds: Tehran's continued pursuit of nuclear weapons poses an unacceptable risk, a danger we cannot allow."

This is not some poor, benighted "third-world country" when it comes to armaments, and its home-grown weapons development programs. They have both the considerable brain-power, and know-how, to develop their own weapons systems.
However, a succession of administrations have continued to treat it as such, heaping billions of dollars on Israel's weapons programs, payed for by the US taxpayers.
For a country which, according to President Carter, already has 150 nuclear weapons, Israel is an expert at coming to Washington, hat in hand, and stating that what they have received in US weapons, development systems, and an ever deeper integration into the US military can never be enough.
nd the winner is ... the Israel lobby
AIPAC maintains a virtual stranglehold over the US Congress. Critics of the Israel lobby other than Walt and Mearsheimer also contend that AIPAC essentially prevents any possibility of open debate on US policy towards Israel. Compare it with a 2004 report by the Pentagon's Defense Science Board, according to which "Muslims do not hate our freedom, but rather they hate our policies".
AIPAC should not be crossed. It rewards those who support its agenda, and punishes those who don't. In the end, it's all about money - specifically campaign contributions. From 2000 to 2004, according to the Washington Post, AIPAC honchos contributed an average of $72,000 each to campaigns and political committees. For pro-AIPAC politicians, money simply pours from all over the US.

With the impact of AICPAC on the political process in this country, it is obvious, whoever the next President will be, that they will be putting Israel first in their foreign policy decisions, and that is dangerous not only to the future of this country, but also the world.
Israel's Barak says he has prepared legislation to dissolve parliament
Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak says he has prepared legislation to dissolve parliament and force the country to hold elections.
The comments raise the pressure on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to step down to face a widening corruption scandal.

Looks like this may be Olmert's last Washington visit on the Israeli taxpayers' dime.
Unfortunately, the candidates potentially replacing him are just to the right of Attila the Hun when it comes to the issues of Palestinian sovereignty and rights.
Bill Kristol At AIPAC: Obama And McCain "Don't Actually Differ" On Iran
A few supporters of the studiously bipartisan American Israel Public Affairs Committee gasped in shock this morning when they heard Sen.
John McCain attack his likely general election challenger Sen. Barack Obama in a speech at the group's annual policy conference. "That was the first time I've heard anyone call out another candidate by name [here]," said Aliana Greenberg, a campus AIPAC delegate and repeat conference attendee from the University of Pennsylvania.
Another campus delegate told The Huffington Post he heard rumblings that AIPAC staffers are now nervous about what Obama's reception will be like among those in the crowd who cheered McCain's sharp speech today
PM to ask US for new military platforms, funding
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is expected to use his trip in Washington, DC this week to tie up some loose ends on several requests by the IDF for new military platforms as well as funding for defense-related projects, officials said Monday.
Note that the Israeli military is asking for US congressional approval for 150 million dollars to continue to fund the Arrow defense system.
Think, for just one moment, how many homeless US vets might be helped with that money.
Of course, to this administration, homeless vets are expendable.
And, according to former President Jimmy Carter, Israel already has 150 nuclear weapons.
ATE ON THE ISRAELI WEB
Haaretz.com, the website of the Israeli newspaper often cited as an example of Israel's liberal, critical media carries paid advertisements from a website openly advocating the total destruction of the Palestinian people, the murder of large numbers of Muslim civilians, the assassination of the family members of Arab rulers, and the use of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons against dozens of countries.
So why are US taxpayers funding Israel's weapons program?
SHAMELESS IN RAMALLAH
In order to obtain a certificate of good conduct from Israel and her guardian-ally, the United States, the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority (PA) is betraying the very people it claims to represent and its enduring national cause in ways unprecedented in living memory.

The White House warned Israel Monday against plans to build 884 more houses in east Jerusalem, saying building such settlements "exacerbates the tensions" with the Palestinians.
