In this period of national planning and re-evaluation, should Americans be taking a long hard look at their aviation skills and get back into the cockpit?
Let's forget for a moment the recent commercial accidents in American air space and consider our military prowess. It's not what it was in the dogfight days of Top Gun. Foreign militaries have been far more resourceful than the American military by taking Russian components and technologies and applying them to their own air fleets. India recently trounced the US in war games over the central Pacific which took American pilots completely off guard.
