Sydneys efluent should not be treated and pumped out to sea via deep sewage outfalls.

It should be pumped across the mountains to the marginal areas of western NSW, treated and used for watering large eucalypt plantations. The resulting plantations once large enough will change the weather  patterns coming across NSW by providing extra moisture to the atmosphere and halting the growth of the western deserts. Also providing nutrients to soil that is currently low in nutrients.
