When the age of enlightenment swept 16th-17th century Europe, it foreshadowed the death of Traditional Christianity. It started in Protestantism but later, after having demolished all forms of self-evident truths, the only thing left is the secularism of today. A similar trend is happening in America which started when our founding fathers rejected historical Christianity in favor of liberal Protestantism and relativism. Today, one in three Americans have left their religion of birth for something else including non-religion. So is there a historical link between philosophical enlightement, Protestantism and reltivism?
