A couple of years ago, there were ideas floating around that Apple was going to buy Nintendo. With the complexities aside, the idea would seem to work. Apple could port Gameboy games onto the iPod touch generation of iPods and sell them on iTunes. But the question comes up of "why would Apple spend $8-9 billion on nintendo when they could just open the iPod to developers. The answer to this is content and amount. Nintendo has hundreds of titles for the Gameboy spanning over many years and with a direct purchase, not only would Apple receive profits from increase iPod sales, but also from the games as well. With the recent success of the Wii, Apple would absorb a great base of current consumers ready for great products. Also Apple could make Wii games work with OS X to increase demand for that as well. Ideas?
