The New York Times today brings you a Bloggingheads debate called "Is Government Smart?" between Jeff Madrick, author of "The Case for Big Government" and James Pinkerton of Fox News.

Pinkerton served in the White House under Presidents Reagan and Bush and moderated the 2008 Libertarian presidential debate. A former advisor to Ted Kennedy, Madrick is editor of Challenge Magazine, visiting professor of humanities at The Cooper Union, and director of policy research at the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis at The New School. He also wrote a book in 1998 called The End of Affluence--a decade ahead of its time.
