While America is creating less and less PhDs, it should focus more on a science yet to be fully understood: the business outcome when we make the effort to lead business men and creative individuals as a team. The outcome if well managed can lead to a new type of competitive intelligence.

A few companies understand this and act on it while a lot preach it but don't understand how to go about it.  Apple is clearly a company that masters this science which explains why it has (early-on) shaken markets.

XEROX is trying hard and slightly progressing at it.  GE does not practice it but backs it and Kodak tries to survive on such a late transition to its dragging turnaround.  While Apple, sleeps it, breathes it and has been living such mantra since the mid 90's and that is why it has left its competitors in a bloody ocean.
