Americans are arrogant and aggressive. Canadians are arrogant and passive-aggressive. (The above statements of course do not always apply but are worth thinking about.)

My ancestors were not "heroes." Instead they fought for the British. It is said that they lost, however, I'm not so sure of that. My ancestors of visible African descent were able to live as free people and my Native ancestors were not exterminated by genocidal policies. History has many sides and many stories. Only myths are simple and straight forward.I can't say too much about John Adams himself. We're likely related and you shouldn't gossip about family.

Has philanthropy not itself turned into a very effective marketing and public relations tool; and often even big business in its own right. As regards the Shell example, certainly footage of "selfless volunteers" raking the beach ends up on the news and takes the pressure off of finding real solutions---because real solutions don't always = profit and profit at any cost is the name of the game.
