Mr. Sorensen has very valuable insight into what the Presidency was about, and should be about. He suggests that Bill Clinton's biggest crime was basically lost opportunity.

This is probably an unfair assessment. A President today is virtually ham-strung by forces working against any change that might upset the flow of money. America is extremely proud of its capitalist-model, and any challenge to it, will not happen without a fight.

Compare the legacy of Bill Clinton to that of Geoge W. Bush [ when Bush is finally dethroned ]. If Clinton was guilty of doing nothing, Bush has been guilty of doing everything wrong. I know which one I would prefer.

I believe the common theme that will appeal to ALL voters is "Out with the Old; In with the New". George W. Bush has been a total embarrassment to the office, and to America in general. He should never have been maneuvered into that position in the first place. The people who did this, have shown complete contempt for the American political-system.

But there is a deeper tragedy unfolding in American politics today — the gladiatorial approach to selecting a leader from each party. This drawn-out process that exposes every tiny flaw, is bound to destroy even the best candidates, and leave them exhausted if they eventually reach office. Why can't someone stand back from this nonsense, and propose an election campaign limited to a month or two. There may be a few babies left unkissed, but so what?
