Andrea Boyd commented on Why are you a vegan? on March 11, 2008, 11:32 AM
Being vegan brings more joy to my life than any other choice I have ever made. Eating animals for taste enjoyment is not only cruel, it's actually disgusting. People on this planet would be in much better shape physically, mentally, and spiritually if they went VEGAN! Animals are being tortured and killed by the billions and all because of what has been ingrained into this culture...I grew up eating meat and dairy, and it really is not that hard to give up. COMPASSION IS THE KEY TO HAPPINESS. Compassion means to feel with. No animals want to be tortured and killed. If we had to do it ourselves, I have a feeling that there would be many many more vegans out there. Please, for your own sake and for the sake of this planet and all on it, GO VEGAN! Keep up the amazing work that you are doing Sharon. Radicals must speak out. Thank you.
Andrea Boyd commented on What is Jivamukti yoga? on March 11, 2008, 7:41 AM
Jivamukti Yoga is an amazingly comprehensive style of yoga that is physically challenging and intellectually stimulating!!! It's called a yoga practice, not yoga perfection- because we are always trying to do our best. (I don't think Sharon alluded that you have to perfect Ahimsa) But doing our best, doesn't mean to pick and choose what is easy, or to always be making excuses like "I feel that eating meat is not-harming myself, and ahimsa means not-harming." The human heart knows that unnecessary killing is wrong. And that the least amount of harm we can cause, the better. Today there are many alternatives for those who love animal flesh. So, it's even easier to practice Ahimsa towards living sentient beings.

Andrea Boyd commented on David Life: What is your counsel? on March 10, 2008, 9:11 PM
I agree that yoga is a practice that can dissolve the borders and differences that we feel towards other beings. I have been practicing yoga now for 12 years, and have been teaching for 4 years. These physical and ethical practices give us such a profound shift in how we view the world, changing our perception from "How are we different and unique?" into "How are we the same and what is the root of all things?" Which is of course love. David Life is one of the most radical and masterful yoga teachers of our time, and he makes profound connections with the ancient practices of yoga and our modern-day cultural conditioning. Thank you for posting this great man's thoughts!
