I agree. As a lesbian I feel very underrepresented in all areas, especially the media. Too often we find that the only way to see anything about gays/lesbians/transgendered is by looking at something that is borderline to hardcore porn. We are not all like that, and yet we receive a bad reputation because that is all that media portrays.

I believe that we find affection in those opposite us because they have the traits that we are seeking. If we are striving for those traits then they are traits that we do not currently possess. Perhaps we find affection for our opposites because we are keeping them near to us in an effort to make obtaining these traits easier.
I am someone who wants to know everything. I have my opinions, but am willing to change them if someone can give me a good reason why I should.
