I agree with some of your concepts…

However, if Quebec and in particular Montreal are so multicultural as you state. Then why is it a province that has laws to protect its language? Let alone the whole "reasonable accommodation debate". The only reason Montreal is a multicultural city is simply because their are others who are ethic who are "physically" there. Personally I think its just a city made up of large "ethnic ghettos". Outside of that I don't think its nearly as multicultural as you make it out to be. Multicultural means people live together. French still rules supreme!

As for judging whether their is a "Canadian Identity?" Being that you only lived there for 20 years and are first generation Canadian I think you are a very poor judge of that. If you can't see it then its because you were just a visitor and not really truly a Canadian. Quite honestly as a minority and new resident you were being quite disrespectful. It always seems to be these "new residents" who grew up in one of these "ethic ghettos" in Canada questioning what it is to be Canadian. The fact is usually never really stepped out of it and often don't know what it is to be 100kms out of their safety zone. Really the fact they only exist is because of our tolerance which I will say is quickly being tested.

As for the scientist thing. I don't even know where you were going there. So you lost in the last few minutes there.
